Scott was born and raised just north of Dallas, Texas.  He attended Texas A&M University where he, eventually, became a theatre major and eventually graduated in 1989 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts.  Upon graduation, Scott took an internship with an Equity theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida, American Stage, working in their shop and stage managing.  In his second season, he joined the staff of American Stage as a technician.  After American Stage,  Scott spent a brief time as the Technical Director for the Waco Performing Arts Company in Waco, Texas.    It was while working in this restored Vaudeville house, that Scott decided to return to school to hone his design skills.  He applied for and was granted an assistantship to Florida State University’s School of Theatre and began work on his MFA in Scenic Design.  At FSU, he supervised the paint shop and designed the sets for Loot, Portrait Of A Woman, Our Town and, his thesis production, The Rover.  Scott spent the summers of his graduate work with the Texas Shakespeare Festival.  In his three seasons with the festival, Scott worked as carpenter, scenic painter, props designer and assistant scenic designer.

After graduating from FSU in 1994, Scott went to work for the Weathervane Playhouse in Akron, Ohio as their Resident Designer/Technical Director.   Scott's next job was as Technical Director for Players Guild in Canton, Ohio.  After a season there, Scott then moved back home to Texas to begin his freelance design work with the North Texas premiere of Molly Sweeney at Plano Repertory Theatre.  Since then, Scott began working for Flower Mound Performing Arts Theatre as scenic designer for their production of Godspell in 2003 and is now their Executive Producer, Resident Designer and Production Stage Manager.

Scott, when he can, enjoys a wide variety of movies and music, and is a casual cross-worder.   He also dabbles in photography and has a growing passion for aviation and vintage aircraft of the 1930s and '40s.  Scott prefers to color outside of the lines and has been known to drive down a road just to see where it goes.   Scott is also the founder of The International Elvis Impersonator Sock Puppet Dinner Theatre Company.
